An account from 2023 from Helena, a close friend of mine who at the time, had recently begun her addiction recovery journey. Exploring the nuances of sobriety and how subjective a process it can be, I photographed Helena in a space she holds close to her heart, despite its dark significance.

In 2022, I embarked on a photojournalistic project to tell individuals' stories of getting sober - photographing their portraits in locations that felt particularly poignant to them in their journey. My first subject was Rosy Pendlebury.

When Corinna invited me on a winter road trip to Wales in 2021, I couldn’t resist the opportunity – even though it was the middle of winter! Of course, I brought my camera along to capture the adventure.
